Local car passenger reels off continual expletives for 20 minutes to Dyfed-Powys Police Officers

A local man who reeled off countless expletives at police officers over a 20 minute duration appeared at Llanelli Law Courts this morning (September 20).

Ian Paul Gladstone, age 27 of Berwick Road Llanelli pleaded guilty to the single allegation put forward of using threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Lisa Jones prosecuting told the court that police officers had stopped a vehicle during the afternoon of August 24 in Llanelli. Gladstone was in his friends car as a passenger and started to question the police reeling off numerous and continual expletives including that they could f**k off and that he paid their f***ing wages.

He was warned several times before being arrested and taken to Ammanford custody suite where he was charged. Police officers described him as a complete and utter nuisance.

The court heard that there were members of the general public who witnessed the incident, which lasted approximately 20 minutes through an intermittent period.

The court was told that there are 12 convictions on Gladstone’s record for 16 offences with many of a similar nature.

Richard Morgan representing stated that his client had OCD and depression and had gone through a tough week. He stated that his client had expressed frustration but that he knew he was out of order and that he wished to apologise.

The chair of the bench said:
“From what I’ve heard, this was a needless incident. I’m punishing by way of a conditional discharge. Court costs of £85 are to be paid plus a £20 victim surcharge.”
