Speaking ahead of the game, head coach for the side Richard Fussell said: “It’s an exciting opportunity for this group of boys to experience travelling away to Ireland and more than less mirror imaging what the seniors do with the travelling arrangements. Having to stay over as a team will be a great experience for some of those boys who have never done it before.
This weekend gives us the opportunity as a group of players to put our principles back in practice. We had a disappointing week last week against Munster A but there were some good things in that game. We had the chance to expose players on the field to game time and a higher level of rugby. Eight of the boys from our round one game against the Scarlets A had the chance to travel with the senior team last weekend and play against Munster. Having them experience another level again playing out there then coming back into our group is an advantage for us going into this game against Connacht.”
