Morriston Hospital is having its first open day
One of Wales’ largest hospitals will be holding its first-ever open day on Saturday the 6th of October.
Visitors will be given an unique opportunity to try their hand at using a laparoscopic scope – used during keyhole surgery – and to practice intubation (inserting a tube to help a patient breathe) BUT this will be on a mannequin.
Swansea’s Morriston Hospital, which delivers countless services from critical care to specialist burns treatment, cutting-edge facial reconstruction, cardiac surgery and everything in-between, will have many stalls showcasing emergency care, laboratory medicine, volunteering, therapists, dieticians and other services in the foyer of the main entrance between 11am and 3pm.
Bring the family along as there will also be the chance to sit in a fire engine and hear from police officers and ambulance staff all about their roles too.
The 70th anniversary of the NHS and the long and distinguished history of Morriston Hospital will also be celebrated at the event.
