Links Art Group are proudly exhibiting their works at Caffi Lolfa (4 Stepney Road, Burry Port) from the 9th of October to the 2nd of November. The actual launch is on Tuesday the 9th of October at 5pm.

Links is a mental health (charity based) organisation, where people come to learn and experience new skills. These include art, crafts, pyrography, photography and IT, among other courses. This enables individuals to improve their sense of well-being.

We can all struggle with our mental health at times. For some, it can become quite difficult to leave the home environment.

Our project “Stressed Landscapes” began by taking people out from within the four walls and to absorb the breathtaking costal route between Llanelli and Burry Port. From the speedy motions of the train, to slowing right down to a walking pace.

Karen Hopkins (Links Art Tutor) told the West Wales Chronicle:
“As a group, we embarked on our journey together. Breathing in the fresh sea air, the wind became apparent in our sails!

“Being mindful, we noticed the ever changing colours of the sky, sea and contours of the land. We drew observationally, collecting objects, taking photos and researching old ones. These all helped inform our compositions.

“I believe everyone can draw and my aim is to encourage people to find that creativeness within. I am very proud of all the members and the high quality of work that they’ve produced!”

Come along for some light refreshments and a chance to pick up your own masterpiece at a bargain price!
