Hywel Dda University Health Board wishes to thank staff, as well as partner agencies and the community for the joined up approach and team working across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire during the weekend’s floods.
Multi–agencies including county councils, police, fire and rescue and others, worked together on the response to the adverse weather and have now formally moved to the recovery phase.
Health services were largely unaffected and despite flooding in parts of Carmarthen town centre only a very small number of staff were unable to attend work – keeping hospitals and essential community services operating.
Chief Executive Steve Moore said:
“We are grateful to our staff, who work 365 days of the year, and also to our partner agencies across the three counties who worked together this weekend, through the elements, to keep people safe and provide emergency assistance when needed.”
People are reminded that in adverse weather, road disruption and advice is available on websites and social media from relevant local authorities (county councils) and police, so that people have the most up-to-date, authoritative advice when making any journeys.
If there is a change to the way the public need to access health services, the health board would make announcements on its website and social media, or contact specifically affected patients directly depending on the specific circumstances. Anyone in an emergency situation should dial 999 for assistance as usual.

Diolch i’r gwasanaethau brys a’r gymuned
Dymuna Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda ddiolch i staff, asiantaethau partner a’r gymuned am y cydlynu a’r gwaith tîm ar draws Sir Gâr, Ceredigion a Sir Benfro yn ytsod y llifogydd dros y penwythnos.
Gwelwyd cyd-weithio rhwng aml-asiantaethau yn cynnwys cynghorau sir, yr heddlu, y gwasanaeth tân ac achub ac eraill mewn ymateb i’r tywydd garw, sydd bellach wedi symud ymlaen i’r cyfnod adfer.
Er gwaethaf llifogydd mewn rhannau o ganol tref Caerfyrddin, ni effeithiwyd llawer ar y gwasanaethau iechyd, a dim ond nifer fychan o staff wnaeth fethu dod i’r gwaith – gan gadw ysbytai a gwasanaethau cymunedol hanfodol i fynd.
Meddai’r Prif Weithredwr, Steve Moore:
“Rydym yn ddiolchgar i’n staff, sy’n gweithio 365 diwrnod y flwyddyn, ac hefyd i’n hasiantaethau partner ar draws y tair sir a fu’n cyd-weithio dros y penwythnos, drwy’r elfennau, i gadw pobl yn ddiogel ac i ddarparu cymorth brys yn ôl yr angen.
Dyma atgoffa pobl – yn ystod tywydd anffafriol, mae cyngor a gwybodaeth am unrhyw darfu ar y ffyrdd ar gael ar wefan a chyfryngau cymdeithasol yr awdurdodau lleol perthnasol (cynghorau sir) a’r heddlu, fel bod pobl yn cael y cyngor diweddaraf ac mwyaf awdurdodol ar gyfer unrhyw siwrneiau.
Os oes newid i’r ffordd y mae angen i’r cyhoedd gael gafael ar wasanaethau iechyd, byddai’r bwrdd iechyd yn gwneud cyhoeddiadau ar ei wefan a’i gyfryngau cymdeithasol, neu’n cysylltu â chleifion sy’n cael eu heffeithio’n benodol yn uniongyrchol, yn dibynnu ar yr amgylchiadau. Dylai unrhyw un mewn sefyllfa frys ddeialu 999 am gymorth fel arfer.
