URGENT POLICE APPEAL

South Wales Police is appealing for information following an incident at around 3am today (Monday, 22nd October, 2018).

A man is understood to have fallen from the Cherry Orchard Road bridge, which runs over the M4 at Thornhill, and collided with a vehicle travelling westbound along the motorway.

The 26-year-old was taken to the University Hospital of Wales Cardiff with serious injuries.

Officers are appealing for anybody who may have seen what happened or anything leading up to the incident to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact the South Wales Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit via 101 quoting reference *401681.

The westbound carriageway of the M4 was closed for a short time between junctions 30 and 32 while officers carried out investigations at the scene of the collision.

Members of the public are thanked for their patience during this closure.
