SWANSEA CITY VS BLACKBURN ROVERS CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL (October 23)
A mild evening to start with at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea!
The Swans made several changes to the team that suffered defeat at Villa last Saturday.
Blackburn fans arrived expectant of a good performance from their team.
It was Blackburn who were bossing the game and the Swans looked sluggish and stood off their opponents. Blackburn got the break after 25 minutes play when the Swans conceded the softest of penalty decisions, defender Kyle Naughton tripped his opponent inside the penalty box in front of the referee.
This resulting spot kick was duly despatched by Blackburn central defender and captain Charlie Mulgrew who blasted his spot kick into the corner of the Swans net. 0-1
Blackburn held a comfortable lead into the interval. Indeed the half ended with a chorus of boos from the home fans as they wanted more from their team.
The second half saw Swans captain Leroy Fer and midfielder Jay Fulton replace Carroll and Olsson respectively.
The impact had the desired effect and all of a sudden it was Blackburn who were under pressure. Swans got their reward in the 64 th minute when Jay Fulton smashed home the equaliser seeing the ball clip the inside of the post and roll over the goal line with McBurnie in attendance just in case it needed that extra touch 1-1
It was just three minutes later when Swans young starlets Dan James and Connor Roberts combined to split the Blackburn defence wide open with Roberts scoring with a superbly taken goal 2-1
It was all Swans and it was Bersant Celina who rounded the night off with the Swans third goal 3-1 to send the Liberty crowd of 18,035 home happy with the result and look forward to next Saturday when Reading are the visitors to the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.
