ANNUAL ‘THEIR LIGHT SHINES’ AT THE NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDEN OF WALES

Losing a loved one is lonely and in the build up to the festive season and the traditional time of celebration and sharing, a grieving person may feel like there is no place to find comfort or relief from the darkness of grief.

Ty Cymorth Day Hospice, Carmarthen led by the Chaplaincy Department of Hywel Dda University Health Board, is holding the 7th annual ‘Their Light Still Shines’ celebration on November the 18th at 2.30pm.

The Celebration will be held at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Llanarthne, SA32 8HN. The ‘Great Glass House’ is a calm, welcoming space with natural light, a safe space for everyone of faith or none to share grief. Entry is free via the main entrance and is open to all ages and all faiths or none.

12 central candles are lit representing family, colleagues, those who have given life through organ donation and serving others and this year a candle will also be lit to remember those who have contributed to the NHS throughout its 70 year history. People will also be given the opportunity to place a message on the Festive tree provided.

Euryl Howells, Senior Chaplain for Hywel Dda University Health Board said:

“People have told us that this service gives them an opportunity to come and to express their emotions and that it brings so much comfort from meeting other people and families grieving during what is a traditionally happy season’

“Grieving is a personal and highly individual experience. How you grieve depends on many factors, including your personality, support of family and friends, your life experience, your faith, and the nature of the loss. The grieving process takes time.

“In celebrating and remembering, you will be supporting the work of Ty Cymorth Hospice. However you do not have to have used the services of the hospice, and many people join the Celebration you can remember anyone who was special to you, who lit up your life, or was an inspiration.

“I would once again like to thank the management of the National Botanic Garden of Wales for hosting this event as its inspiring ambience offers serenity to allow us to reflect together as we celebrate the memory of people we love and miss”
