A LLANELLI ABC

Afon Lliedi, the river that flows through the town.
Bethel, the oldest Baptist chapel in Llanelli…..Grade II listed.
Copperworks Road, site of the works that revitalised the town.
Delme Thomas, captain of the side that beat the All Blacks.
Elli, the saint who gave the town it’s name.
Food Festival, a reminder of how our town used to be.
Golf courses, we have two, Machynys and Ashburnham.
Halfway, site of an 19th century Tollgate.
Innes, James Dickson, artist.
Joppa, a Sunday School in Machynys, now demolished.
Klondyke, the nickname for the Steelworks.
Llanelly House, 18th cent. Georgian House recently restored.
Millenium Coastal Path, walkway from Loughor to Burry Port.
National Eisteddfod, held here six times.
Old Castle, a development that never materialised.
Parc Howard, Llanelli’s premier park, beautiful.
Quaker Meeting House, now where Iceland Foods are.
Rhone, one of the Sandboats based at the North Dock.
Sosban Fach, the town’s anthem.
Tinplate, once the lifeblood of the town, now sadly in decline.
Upper Lliedi Resevoir, better known as Swiss Valley.
Vaughan Street, where Woolies and Marks used to be.
Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Penclacwydd, Llanelli Wetlands.
Xceptional, the people of Llanelli.
YMCA, once impressive building, soon to be restored.
Zammit, Jack & Primrose, builders of the famous stack.
