Challenger estate agency slashes fees to £1 in amazing Black Friday deal
What can £1 buy you these days? A newspaper, a pint of milk or an hour of car parking? Well, now you can also sell your house for just £1 in estate agent fees, with the latest amazing Black Friday offer from Doorsteps.co.uk
The nationwide online estate agent continues to challenge the traditional estate agency model by slashing its flat fee to just £1 – with no commission charge. This once in a lifetime offer is valid to any homeowner signing up to an estate agency agreement with Doorsteps over a 48-hour period from Monday 19 November to Tuesday 20 November.
Doorsteps’ regular flat fee is £99 compared to the price of the average high street estate agent which is £5,718.*
Doorsteps Managing Director Akshay Ruparelia explained:
“This Black Friday offer is part of our low cost ethos which is instrumental to our success. As ever, our customers will benefit from our award winning service. They will have access to a dedicated agent 24/7 to deal with solicitors and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) as well as their own online portal to track viewings, offers and the progress of their sale.”
Since launching almost two years ago, Doorsteps has rapidly become the 10th largest estate agency in the UK (source, Zoopla). With an estimated value of £20 million, it has listed 4,000 properties to date, with a team of 50 employees and 25 consultants around the UK. To date, it has saved customers approximately £6 million in estate agency fees.
At just 20 years old, Ruparelia is the youngest person on this year’s Sunday Times Rich List. He launched his online estate agency after becoming involved in the sale of his family home. He explained:
“Both my parents are deaf, so my sister and I became heavily involved in selling our family home. I was surprised at the exorbitant fees charged by high street estate agents so, with the help of a bank loan and family support, I launched Doorsteps while still studying for my A levels. I was determined to offer homeowners an affordable but high quality package that uses smart technology as well as a team of staff that are local property experts.
“Our business model has paid off. Our properties range from multi million pound homes to one bedroom flats. We want to further share our success with our customers – hence this Black Friday offer which is probably the smallest estate agency fee in history.”
He added:
“The high street is dying. By Dec 2017 an incredible 24.1% of all non-food shopping was done online. Estate Agents are central to this decline and online agents are on the rise. Last year, 8% of all UK properties were listed with online agents. This is forecast to rise by 50% by 2020-2023.
“Our goal is to become the largest and best serving estate agent in Britain. We are aiming for a 1.9% share of the UK market this year. We want to be the go-to place to sell your home, with a blend of real-life agents and technology to offer fixed and fair pricing delivered in an honest, transparent and hassle-free way.”
Doorsteps last month launched its second crowdfunding campaign which reached £870,000 – more than double the £400,000 of funding it set out to achieve. In the first day alone, the campaign was oversubscribed by 170% with £690,000 raised and more than 1,000 investors. The funds are going towards the appointments of key personnel to provide higher value services and cope with Doorsteps current levels of demand.
