He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

The assault took place at Herofest, a live action role play (LARP) event in Candlestone Campsite, Merthyr Mawr, Bridgend, on September 29, 2017.

The court heard Smith raped the woman when she was asleep in a tent at the campsite.

In a victim personal statement read in court, the woman said:

“This event has affected me in many ways and my quality of life has greatly decreased.”

She said she now has regular panic attacks and suffers with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The victim added:

“I don’t remember what it’s like to fall asleep and not be afraid.”
