‘Reduce male suicide in Wales by reaching out to boys in school’.
An NSPCC Cymru/Wales spokesperson said:
“Any death by suicide is a tragedy and as a society we must ensure support is readily available for young people suffering with mental health problems.
“Issues around mental and emotional health are the number one reason for a child from Wales to contact our Childline service, with 2,163 counselling sessions carried out last year (2016-17) alone.
“Early intervention is the key to minimising the long-term impact of mental ill-health in children.
“We support recommendations to embed emotional wellbeing into the school curriculum and an approach where all school staff promote and protect pupils’ mental and emotional health.”
