Attempted armed robbery, Gorseinon – Updated appeal

Detectives investigating an attempted armed robbery in Gorseinon are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

Two men dressed in overalls and with their faces covered gained entry via the roof to Lloyds Bank on High Street at approximately 10am on Tuesday, November the 20th.

The men were believed to have been carrying crowbars and knives, however no-one was hurt during the incident.

Following an unsuccessful attempt to gain access to money, the men fled the scene via the lane at the rear of High Street.

Detectives believe a Grey Audi A3 S Line five-door saloon with tinted rear windows, similar to the one pictured, was used as the getaway vehicle.

It is thought to have been driven out of the lane, turning right on to Brighton Road, before turning left on to Cecil Road. From there the suspects are believed to have driven right on to Pontarddulais Road and on to Coalbrook Road, where the car was abandoned and burned out.

Detective Inspector Matthew Davies said:

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I’m appealing to members of the public to come forward with what could prove to be vital information.

“In particular, I’d like to hear from anyone who was in any of these areas at or between the hours of 7am and 11am, and who saw a vehicle matching this description or who witnessed anything suspicious.

“Alternatively, anyone with dash-cam, cycle-cams or private CCTV is urged to check their footage and make contact.

“I’d also issue an appeal directly to residents of the Grovesend area. Did you see the vehicle in the area between around 10.30am and 11am? Or perhaps another vehicle which was being driven at speed or suspiciously in the area?

“Anyone who thinks they may have any information – no matter how insignificant it may seem – should contact us as a matter of urgency.”
