OPERATION AVALANCHE – TWENTY EIGHT PEOPLE CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH DRUG SUPPLY

NEWS UPDATE

Twenty eight people have been charged in connection with Operation Avalanche to tackle drug supply.

Three days of action took place in Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan in the past week which saw 30 address searched.

This was a large-scale operation to combat the supply of controlled drugs in the area.

Around 220 officers took part in the operation which included local officers, the dog section, the Territorial Support Team and colleagues from the National Crime Agency.

37 people have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences.
Of those arrested, 28 people to date have been charged.

Charges include conspiracy to supply controlled drug of class A heroin and conspiracy to supply controlled drug of class A crack cocaine.

Detective Chief Inspector Justin Evans said:

“Tackling drug supply in our communities is a priority for us here in Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan. I am grateful to everybody involved in this operation, and I hope that this reassures our communities of our ability to deal with this type of criminality.
