Independent Town and County Councillor for Elli Ward, John Jenkins has urged Llanelli people to support the largest concentration of small, local businesses in our Town; namely those in Llanelli Market.
Coun. Jenkins said, “Llanelli Market is home to small, local traders providing locally-sourced goods and services and deserves all of our strongest support at this time of year,” he said,
“Remember, money spent in Llanelli Market and with other local independent traders stays in the local economy so shop local and support our traders.”
Welsh Conservative Town Councillor for Elli Ward, Siôn Davies said:
“This Small Business Saturday is an opportunity for us to show our local businesspeople how much they mean to us – even more than we do throughout the rest of the year.
“By shopping local, this is a chance to buy some great, high-quality products and give our small businesses the boost they deserve just before Christmas.”
Plaid Cymru Town Councillor for Tyisha Ward, Terry Davies said:
“I have been in business in Llanelli for over 50 years and watched the town decline up until three years ago when the Independent and Plaid in the County has started to turn matters around for us. It’s good news that Llanelli is changing and with over 4 thousand customers with my company and many of which are businesses, talking to businesses and FSB members there is an air of hope emerging with new plans and development on the horizon.
“Overall Llanelli people are passionate about their town and history. and the market is value for money and has a welcome smile on each stall. I love Llanelli let’s support the town over Christmas.”
Independent Town Councillor for Glanymor Ward, Sean Rees added:
“I recently attended a presentation at the Senedd on the future of Welsh Towns. The Federation of Small Businesses has estimated that for every pound spent at an independent shop, around 70p of that stays in the local economy.
“To support Llanelli Town Centre, we need reduced business rates, lower rents and more free parking. We need more independent shops which can offer something different to what can be found at the out of town retail park at Trostre.”
“I’ve often said the people who know our Town best are not the politicians but the community itself and their voices must be heard.”
