NEATH PORT TALBOT COUNCIL – Budget consultation deadline approaches

The Council has proposed dozens of ways to make cuts to spending and to generate income and is eager to get feedback on these, and to receive any alternative suggestions for meeting its budget shortfall of more than £12 million next year.

Cllr. Carol Clement-Williams, Cabinet Member for Finance said:

“We know that people in the county borough care about public services and how they are delivered and I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond to the consultation so far.

“This will be our most difficult budget to date, as we have already been forced to make budget cuts of more than £83 million over the past eight years. It is therefore vitally important that we get the views of as many people as possible before any final decisions are made.

“There is still time to have your say before the consultation closes on the 11th of January, and I would really encourage everyone to do so.”

Alternatively, paper copies of the feedback form and boxes for posting completed forms can be found at civic buildings, libraries and other public buildings across the county borough.

Final decisions on setting the Council’s Budget for 2019/20 will be taken in February, taking into account the responses to the public consultation.
