OIL 4 WALES CELEBRATES 10% TURNOVER RISE
Record-breaking year for national oil company that supplies over 70,000 domestic and commercial customers across Wales
Wales’ leading independent fuel supplier is celebrating a record-breaking year after announcing a 10% rise in turnover in its latest financial results.
Oil 4 Wales saw turnover rise to £113.9min 2017/18, up from £103.3m the previous year.
The family-run business also recorded a pre-tax profit of over £600k.
The national oil company, run by a family team including father Colin Owens, his wife and two children, continues to successfully supply 70,000 domestic and commercial customers throughout Wales.
Oil 4 Wales, which has seven depots across Wales and owns four filling stations, remains committed to supporting Welsh businesses and communities.
It is currently developing its Carmarthen HQ and investing £400,000 in its petrol station in Nantycaws.
A new café and tourist shop is being built at the station on the A48, one of the busiest stretches of road in west Wales.
When fully opened later this year, the new development for locals and tourists will stock a wide range of local Welsh produce.
Oil 4 Wales is continuing to create employment opportunities around its depots in Cardiff, Carmarthen, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Newtown, Lampeter, Maesteg, Brecon and Pembroke Dock.
And it has strengthened its support for charitable causes over the last 12 months and attended agricultural events in Brecon, Cardigan, Eisteddfod, Gower, Vale of Glamorgan, Lampeter, Anglesey, Pembrokeshire, Denbigh, and Corwen.
Managing Director Colin Owens said: “We are pleased with the latest financial figures that reflect the hard work and commitment we have put in over that 12-month period.
“Our thanks go tothe team of dedicated staff we have at Oil 4 Wales who work tirelessly to deliver our services.
“We’re a proud Welsh business with the local community at the heart of what we do. That will only be strengthened by these latest financial results,” he added.
“We’re determined to enhance all our depots and petrol stations for the benefit of our loyal customers.
“We’ve been delighted by the response to our new Maesteg garage shop and excited by the development at Nantycaws, that will be completed later this year.
“With fantastic views over the Black Mountain range, we are determined to attract more tourists and locals with a new cafeteria and a tourist shop, all stocked with Welsh produce.
“We remain totally committed to employing local staff, using local suppliers, supporting local causes and investing in the local community over the next financial year.”
Mr. Owens also clarified the situation in Tenby where Oil 4 Wales were forced to close a station last year.
“Due to planning being given to a large supermarket chain directly behind the station, we saw a drop in sales by 30%” he said.
“Coupled with high rent costs, we had no choice but to close the site. We were very disappointed by the difficult decision we had to make, but remain committed to supporting the community in Tenby with a range of our services.”
