Expert reveals secrets of a vibrant winter garden

Snowdrops are the centre of attention for a special weekend devoted to everyone’s favourite early spring bloomers.

Author, designer and broadcaster Naomi Slade will discuss the delights of winter gardening, with a special focus on snowdrops. She will also give a talk and lead a walk around the Botanic Garden’s collection.

Says Naomi: “Winter is often derided as a bleak and dreary time of year yet, with careful choice of plants, the garden can be vibrant, packed with colour and scent and full of interest.”

She adds: “Snowdrops may be small but they are the sweetest sight of early spring and are very much loved. Find out how they can be used in a garden of any size, planted in swathes or combined with other plants for interest and impact.”

Her talk is at 11.30am both days and her walks begin at 2pm.

A self-led trail around the various snowdrop highlights is also available to visitors in the run-up to the weekend event as well as on the 2nd  and 3rd. And there are Botanic Garden-grown snowdrops for sale in the Plant Sales area, near the main public entrance.

Snowdrop Weekend runs from 10am on both days. All snowdrop-related activities are included in the Garden’s admission price.

Entry is FREE for Garden members and parking is FREE for all.

The Garden is open 10am to 4.30pm and last entry is at 3.30pm.
