The Wildlife Watch’s litter pickers were busy yesterday (Monday 21st Jan 19) morning in Swiss Valley Reservoir.
Veronica, one of the volunteers tells us about it.
Ten of us tackled Swiss Valley Reservoir today. Superficially it didn’t look too bad, and some locals had cleared the car park, but once you get into the woods or down by the water you realise what a rubbish tip it has become. People seem to think it’s okay to just dump their empty bottles and cans wherever they like.
Some areas look like they’re habitually used as a bin. We collected 7 bags of recycling and 14 of general rubbish, as well as the remains of a large tent. It was all too much for one of our trolleys which broke under the strain!
Many thanks to our hardy litter pickers, and to Brian of Pride in Your Patch for joining in and taking it all away.
Thank you Nick and Helen for the extra photos.
