A465 CLOSED FOR SIX HOURS AFTER FATAL CRASH RESULTS IN DEATH OF MAN

South Wales Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A465 between Aberdulais and Resolven this morning (January the 23rd).

A black Jeep Compass was in a collision with a Scania heavy goods vehicle on the northbound carriageway shortly before 6.30am.

The 52-year-old male driver of the Jeep died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

The road was closed in both directions for approximately six hours to allow for investigative and recovery work. It reopened shortly after midday today. Motorists are thanked for their patience and understanding.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner in which either vehicle was being driven prior to the collision, but has not yet given an account to officers, is asked to contact 101, quoting occurrence 1900027053.

Anyone who may have captured any relevant footage which could assist the investigation is also asked to make contact.
