Cimla murder investigation: Man charged

South Wales Police has this evening charged a man with murder following the death of a 76-year-old man in the Cimla area of Neath.

Tom Carney, 27, from Morriston, Swansea, has been charged with the murder of David Phillips, whose body was found at a property in Lime Grove at 9.16pm on Thursday, February 14th following reports of a disturbance.

He will appear before Swansea Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, February 18th).

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Darren George of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “I would like to thank the local community for their assistance to date, a number of whom have come forward and provided important information.

“A 27-year-old man has today been charged with the murder of David Phillips, and I would also like to reassure the public that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time.

“However, anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police is asked to make contact via 101, quoting reference1900056210.”
