Statement on behalf of Burry Port AFC and Burry Port RFC
An incident occurred Thursday 14th February when a volunteer marking one of OUR Pitches was assaulted by a member of the Public who’s dog had just fouled on the Pitch.
The Dog Walker, had bagged the foul but when it was politely pointed out that we are trying to keep dogs off our Pitches as even when bagged the foul leaves a residue that can cause serious infection, the person in question became aggressive stating that we couldn’t tell him where he could and could not walk and then assaulted our volunteer.
To point out to the Public these are OUR PITCHES. We own them, not the County or Town Council.
As a result of this and previous incidents We are now enforcing a TOTAL BAN on Dogs on the Four Pitches in Memorial Park and surrounding areas off the Pitches up to the paths and a TOTAL BAN on our Pitch down the Baca.
Signage will shortly be erected around our areas and we will enforce this ban through, if necessary, legal means to ensure the safety of our players.
Finally if this continues we may be forced to fence our areas off and the general public will lose out on use of our areas
