SEA-SIDE’S DRAGONS
What will happen to the dragon hatchlings,
Now the Bal has finally disappeared.
Where will the adults lay those glossy eggs,
Or are they now extinct as I often feared!
Do you remember the clouds of dragon babies,
As they flew over the Wellfield Works.
Better than any murmuration of starlings,
One of living in Sea-Side’s lesser known perks!
Watching as they grew larger and larger,
Sometimes perching on Zammit’s Stack,
Magnificent creatures, Welsh through and through,
Glistening scales of scarlet, silver and some black!
I worry what will become of them,
Now their habitat has been lost.
Will we ever see them again,
At the end of the new years frost!
Note: Since I wrote this poem it has been confirmed that there is a thriving dragon colony at Penclacwydd in the Llanelli Wetlands!
