The newest entries in the mainline Pokemon series have been announced. After a surprise tease yesterday that we would be receiving news the following day, the hot anticipation and hype has been bubbling, with fans all across the internet speculating over what the announcement may be.
After a brief livestream hosted on the official Youtube channel, Gamefreak and the Pokemon Company have officially revealed Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield to the world. After the somewhat controversial release of Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee last year, many fans felt a bit let down by what they saw as a barebones title with stripped content and changed mechanics so hopefully a completely new entry with fresh and exciting features could sway them back.
Not too much is known yet, although we’ve seen the new Galar region and the new starters; Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble. The game looks visually stunning, looking to be building from the style of Let’s Go.
With a late 2019 release date, there’s still plenty of time for more information to be drip fed to our hungry mouths, so all aboard the hype train!
