Two new Directors confirmed at Ospreys

Ospreys Rugby Limited (ORL) is delighted to confirm the appointment of two new directors.

Ian Morgan, founder and Managing Director of the Morganstone Group and property development company, Westacres, and Nick Revell, Managing Director of Ledwood Engineering, will take up roles in the boardroom.

The pair have worked closely with the current board across recent months, and have now agreed to formalise the arrangement. Ledwood and Morganstone have enjoyed long commercial relationships with the Region, with both companies featuring on the Ospreys’ playing kit since 2015.

Rob Davies, Ospreys Chairman, welcomed the appointments saying:

“It is excellent news that Ian and Nick, two prominent and successful figures in the Welsh business community with outstanding reputations, have agreed to take a seat in the boardroom.

“As long term commercial partners of the Ospreys, they understand the rugby, business and political landscapes in which we are operating and bring to the table skillsets which complement each other, and the existing Directors.

“With their knowledge and passion for the Ospreys, Ian and Nick will be fantastic assets for the business as we strive to ensure a bright future for this Region.”

IAN MORGAN

Ian Morgan is the founder and Managing Director of the Morganstone Group and property development company, Westacres, based in South Wales.

An experienced Director with a proven track record in the construction industry, Ian has held a wide range of positions at senior management level and after spending 24 years working for Public Limited Companies decided to go it alone and establish his own company.

In September 2008, he created Morganstone. Despite that year signalling the start of the global recession, the company went on to become one of the fastest growing companies in Wales over the next 10 years. Firmly establishing itself amongst the largest privately owned construction companies in the Principality, it now employs 180 local people with significant investment into the region. The business now has a turnover in excess of £40m per year.

Following on from this success Ian and his wife Tonia formed the award winning Westacres, a provider of luxury residential developments delivering prestigious homes in some of the most desirable locations in Wales.

Ian Morgan said:

“I’m delighted to be able to join the board of Ospreys Rugby Limited at such a pivotal time of change in regional rugby. It’s important to me for the Ospreys to not only continue to be a strong part of the future of Welsh Rugby, but to play a key role in the development of rugby globally as well.

“I have been involved with the Ospreys for a number of years as an avid supporter and main sponsor but now hope to strengthen the Board and bring a fresh business approach, working with my fellow Directors to continue the significant success that we have achieved to date and to help take the Region forward in to a new era.”

NICK REVELL

With a background in business development and project management, Nick specialises in structure and corporate governance, and has managed business turn around’s and start-ups, achieving business of the year awards for growth and employment.

Having begun his career at BP, he also worked for Dow Corning before joining AMEC Oil & Gas, rising to the position of Head of Projects. In 2010 he established Ledwood as owner and Managing Director, delivering complex mechanical engineering projects globally from their base in Pembroke Dock.

“Naturally, I’m delighted to become a Director of Ospreys Rugby Limited” said Nick Revell.

“In recent months we have achieved significant progress towards putting a new strategy, structure and systems in place to ensure the sustainability and growth of the business. Whilst it is well recognised that there are significant challenges at all levels of Welsh rugby, being part of the most successful Welsh regional team is a great entry platform.

“Coming into rugby I thought that the games would be played on the field but my experience so far is that we’ve seen more action off it.

“I look forward to further engagement with key stakeholders to ensure that both the on field and off field performance yield the success that the Ospreys have previously achieved.”
