TWENTY YEARS OF THE NEW L&MMR GALA ON 30th March

The Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway will be kicking off the new season in style with a special Gala day on Saturday 30th March celebrating twenty years since the new Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway Company was inaugurated. Highlights will include, subject to availability,  both of the railways operational diesel locomotives in service on passenger trains, plus our first ever demonstration freight train which is sure to be a highlight for photographers and enthusiasts.  The site will open at 10.30am with trains running at frequent intervals from 11am to 4pm.

Morning departures will be hauled by ex Netherlands Railways Class 600 locomotive NS625 hauling the Mark 2 Buffet coach. Refreshments will be available on board including a selection of popular beers brewed by the historic local Felinfoel brewery.  At 12.30pm a special demonstration freight train will run. In the afternoon Sentinel 0-4-0DH No. 10222 will be in service providing brakevan rides along the current operational section of running line.  The railway’s other rolling stock, including Class 122 Diesel Unit No.  55019 will also be available to view and there will be access to the main stock sheds and heritage centre. The nature trail will be open with a guided walk available at 11am.  The buffet car will remain open for the sale of refreshments and ale whist on static display in the afternoon.  All advertised attractions are subject to availability on the day.

Tickets allowing unlimited rides cost £5 for adults, with a special Family ticket available for £10 (two adults and up to two children).
