TIME TO HAVE A SPRING IN YOUR STEP
Today marks the first day of spring. Spring is one of the four conventional temperate seasons. It follows winter and predates the summer. There are varied definitions of spring, but the term differs according to local climate, cultures and customs.
According to the Northern Hemisphere ‘Spring 2019’ begins on Wednesday the 20th of March and will end on June the 21st in the United Kingdom. This evening marks the final ‘Supermoon’ of the year and you’ll be able to see the full moon in all its glory if you peer up towards the sky.
It’s a rather exciting time especially for budding photographers who will no doubt be rushing to publish their captures. This is the first time since 1981 that the spring and the ‘Supermoon’ occur simultaneously. Spring ends with summer starting at the moment of the June solstice, which occurs every year between June the 20th and June 22nd.
There are many things to look forward to for the season, this includes the Easter period, also known as Pascha or Resurrection Sunday. It’s a festival and holiday which marks the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. It is stated in the New Testament that the miracle occurred on the third day of his burial, this emanates after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.
In many cultures around the world, the egg is a symbol of new life as well as rebirth and fertility. For thousands of years, Iranians and many others have decorated eggs on Nowruz.
This is the Iranian New Year that falls on the spring equinox. For the Christian faith, the Easter egg symbolises the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Let’s not forget those Easter egg hunts either especially for the children.
Over the winter trees and bushes lose their leaves, spring is certainly a welcoming time as new leaves and flowers grow and flourish. The hours of daylight increase as the days extend with the coming of this season.
There is so much to celebrate at this time and in general mental health can improve as the weather gets brighter. Many animals that are born during this time which include, calves, lambs, bunnies, chicks and birds as well as many more. It really is all the more reason to celebrate and have a spring in one’s step.
