It started with a chance conversation in the local pub and ended with a village collaboration involving more than a dozen residents of the picturesque village of Freshwater East. Villagers chatting together over a few drinks realised that many of them had creative skills and talents that other residents were simply not aware of, and the idea of ‘Fresh’ly Made, a booklet to celebrate and share the artistic skill and talent within the village, and more widely, was born.
This week has seen the launch of the brightly coloured and engaging ‘Fresh’ly Made booklet, which features over 200 photographs, and information about village residents who; create stunning sketches of buildings and residential properties,make pottery and offer pottery classes, undertake technical drawings, sew and offer sewing and crafting workshops, make jewellery using shells and pebbles,,make photos of Pembrokeshire, harvest fresh lavendar into hand sewn bags, create beautiful needle-felt pictures, make novelty and celebration cakes, create sea-glass and driftwood art, create hand-crafted and bespoke wooden furniture, and craft stunninng ceramic pieces. Featured in the booklet are also a range of Freshwater East fun T-Shirts produced in the village and information about the resident village tattoo artist who runs Forever Art Tattoos on Main Street, Pembroke.
Dressmaker and crafter, Kazzy Minton, who designed and printed the ‘Fresh’ly Made leaflet from her home, said “I was astounded by the huge amount of creative talent we have in our small village. It felt important for the growth of our community to pool our talents and shout about all that is on offer here in gorgeous Freshwater East. We really hope that this is just the start and more creative residents will join in so that we can continue to celebrate this creative village year after year”
As a follow on to the ‘Fresh’ly Made collaboration, a series of “Sup and Sketch” sessions are being planned in The Freshwater Inn, with the first taking place the following Thursday 11th April at 6:30pm. Everyone is warmly welcomed.
