DRACONIUS CAMBRENSIS
That time of year will be on us soon,
In fact it will be during that next full moon.
What is this? I hear you all say,
Its the time baby dragons fly away!
They’ve been a year in their mothers nest,
The time has come, to fly north, and join the rest.
With Wales, through the centuries, they’ve been linked,
‘Draconius Cambrensis’ thought by most to be extinct.
But a colony survived on our own Ballast hills,
Especially happy during the winter chills.
Invisible to those who don’t believe they exist,
Watching them fly is a sight not to be missed.
I’ll be sad observing them when they depart,
But they will return, Sea-Side is etched upon their heart!
