The Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway will be holding a seasonal family fun day at Cynheidre on Saturday 27th April with plenty going on to entertain the whole family.  In addition to frequent brake van rides with our popular Sentinel diesel loco over our recently extended running line, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt, Nature Trails,  and seasonal refreshments available from our on site buffet car. The Heritage Centre will be open offering an insight into the history of Cynheidre Colliery and our future plans.  There will also be people on site to explain the industrial history of the site. Gates will open at 10.30am with trains running at frequent intervals from 11am to 4pm.

All trains today will be hauled by Sentinel 0-4-0 Diesel shunter No. 10222 providing brake van rides along the newly extended operational section of running line.  The railway’s other rolling stock, including Landore celebrity shunter No. 08 795, Class 122 Diesel Unit No.  55019 and Netherlands Class 600 diesel will also be available to view and there will be access to the main stock sheds and Heritage centre. An Easter Egg hunt will take place throughout the day and the nature trail will be open with a guided walk available at 11am.  The buffet car will be open for the sale of refreshments.

Full details, including an advance ticket purchase option,  are available on on the following web link https://www.llanellirailway.co.uk The railway is hoping to grow into a major tourist attraction for the Llanelli district and in order to reach our goals we need more volunteer help in all departments including operational, maintenance and restoration, and administration. If you could spare a few hours for what is a most enjoyable pastime and worthwhile cause do not hesitate to get in touch.  For more information or to volunteer please visit our website at https://www.llanellirailway.co.uk or Facebook page at www.facebook.com/llanellirailway
