3.7 MILLION BRITS CONSIDERING CALLING IN SICK TO SEE AVENGERS: ENDGAME

London, UK, 23rd April, 2019 â Set to premiere on 24th April, Avengers: Endgame is one of the most-hyped films of 2019. To quench fansâ thirst for more details, travel, media and entertainment startup, Culture Trip, has commissioned research to look into Britsâ views on the eagerly-anticipated sequel to the Infinity War sequel.
Fan Favourites
When it comes to Britsâ favourites, Iron Man takes the crown as the most popular Avenger hero among general fans (25%) – however, Gen-Zers prefer Spider-Man (27%), whilst millennials prefer Thor (22%).
When it comes to romance, Thor is hammering his way into hearts with the Avengers hero being the one that British fans (21%) would be most likely to leave their partner for.
One in three (31%) British women and 642,417 men confessed they would say farewell to their significant other for the King of Asgard, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth.
For men, itâs Black Widow who tops the list, with one quarter (24%) of male fans saying they would ditch their other half for the talented spy and assassin, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson.
Getting Immersed In The MCU
The Culture Trip research reveals that one in ten fantasy fans would love to visit the Avengers Headquarters on holiday, if it were a real place. A further one in ten would also love to visit Wakanda – home of Black Panther while 8% would travel to Thorâs home of Asgard, land of the Ăsir tribe.
Powers We Pine For
When it comes to superpowers, the ability to self-heal is the most-desired power among Brits, with Grootâs ability to regenerate and thus, evade death being the top-ranking power (16%) among fans. In second place, is Black Pantherâs healing, superhuman senses, strength, speed, agility and stamina (13%), followed by Nebulaâs ability to repair herself when injured and high physical capability (13%).
Tackling Brexit
With the UK currently in political turmoil, Brits are calling for Captain America (16.4%) to replace Theresa May, with reasons including, âhe knows a damn sight more than the politicians of todayâ, âsuperheroes canât do a worse jobâ, he âwould stand for what is right,” he âis principled, strong and stoicâ, and âbecause heâs a sweetheart and always wants what is best.â
Following behind Captain America is Iron Man (15.7%), because âhe would get things done for the peopleâ, âknows how to run thingsâ, and because âTony Stark is very intelligent.â In third place to lead a government is Thor (15.4%), because he is âstrong, supportive, knows right from wrong [and] defends the weakâ, âhe would listen to people and then make the right decisionâ, and âwho would argue with a hammer?â
Catching The Action
The next instalment of the Avengers franchise is proving so highly-anticipated, that over 3,740,000* are considering calling in sick or taking the day off work to catch the film.
Areas in which employers should be most concerned, are in the East of England and the South East, where one in five (22%) of fans said theyâd consider calling in sick to catch the film when it hits cinemas. Theyâre closely followed by Northern Ireland (19%) and the West Midlands (18%).
Marvel For All
Despite its fandom around the world, the franchise still has room for improvement, with research revealing almost a third (30%) of fans would like to see more people with disabilities represented in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), whilst 28% would like to see more gender diversity, 27% think more varied racial and ethnic groups could be depicted and 23% would like to see more of the LGBTQI community represented in the franchise.
