To mark the holy month of Ramadan, which started Monday, Dar ul-Isra Mosque in Cathays, in partnership with Bridges for Communities, are hosting a series of evening events, inviting the public to come to the mosque for delicious food and lively conversation. The five events, which will take place on various dates in May, are a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the Islamic month of fasting and give the public an opportunity to see the mosque at its most active.
Now in its 8th year, Sharing Ramadan is an extremely popular fixture in the Cardiff calendar, and as such booking is essential to ensure attendance. Guests can choose from 5 dates and secure their space by visiting: www.bridgesforcommunities.com/sharing-ramadan-2019.
The events will take place at 7:30 pm on the 8th, 13th, 18th, 21st and 23rd of May 2019.
Booking is essential.
Volunteers at the Centre will be on hand to answer questions and enlighten visitors on all aspects of Ramadan, including why Muslims fast, and how to survive 18+ hours of no food or drink! There will also be an opportunity observe the sunset prayers before tucking into a delicious hot meal.
Tanvier Ahmed, who heads up the Outreach work at Dar ul-Isra Centre, says, “Our friends in the wider community may be wondering what all the hype is about Ramadan, and why Muslims are so excited about it. This is a fantastic chance to come and experience the Ramadan Buzz first hand!”
Bridges for Communities organiser Sarah Evans, says, “I love watching people arrive at the mosque for the events, unsure quite what to expect, and then the contrast as they leave, literally buzzing from a rich, informative, positive and precious experience. In a world where frictions in communities are founded upon ignorance and fear, we need more of these opportunities.”
