Green Gathering Festival

The Green Gathering festival is excited to announce it will receive financial support through the Welsh Government’s Major Events Strategy for the second year running. Designed to support events that successfully attract new visitors into Wales and deliver positive economic impact – as well as provide a visitor attraction for the local population – the support is in recognition of the beneficial impact it brings to Chepstow and beyond.

The ‘off-grid’ summer festival, now in its ninth year, is acknowledged for the economic and cultural benefits it brings to the community of Chepstow and people of South Wales.

‘This will help the festival become increasingly sustainable both financially and environmentally, while providing festival goers with a stepping stone into the fabulous countryside and culture of Wales’.  The Green Gathering

The Green Gathering intends to put the grant, given over three years, to good use. Initiatives being rolled out include reducing the number of cars travelling to the event by offering sustainable alternatives and a washing up service to encourage event goers to bring their own reusable cups and plates.

The festival has also made three new appointments to maximise the impact of the extra funding. The event now has a fluent Welsh speaking co-ordinator who will be working towards an exciting programme of Welsh language and culture, including music, spoken word and crafts.

It has also appointed a part-time publicity officer and a Newport-based blogger and social media curator, both of whom will be helping to ‘put the word out’ about this award-winning event, engaging the local community and wider Welsh society as well as encouraging visitors from around the UK to attend the festival and discover the many attractions of the area.

Based on previous years’ figures, the organisers are confident that The Green Gathering 2019 will generate at least £425,000 net additional spending into the Welsh economy, with the additional funding being used to build a year on year increase.

The Green Gathering 2019 takes place from 1st – 4th August, near Chepstow in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ on rolling meadows surrounded by trees with views across the Severn estuary and Wye Valley.

This year’s festival goers can look forward to intimate solar stages and outdoor venues hosting over a hundred live acts, off grid solutions, crafts, permaculture, campaigns, healing, kids’ activities and youth tents, a stone circle, open mic spaces, acoustic sessions, yoga and dance workshops, affordable bars and ethical eats.

Tickets can be purchased from the ticket agent ‘The Ticketsellers’ via a direct link from The Green Gathering website.
