Public Protection will be at the Joiners Arms in Llwynhendy tomorrow at 1pm and 5pm to answer any questions regarding TB.
The Health Protection Team have been working with Cllr Sharen Davies to provide the public with all the details and locations of the upcoming TB Screenings next week.
What is TB? (Source NHS)
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection spread through inhaling tiny droplets from the coughs or sneezes of an infected person.
It mainly affects the lungs, but it can affect any part of the body, including the tummy (abdomen) glands, bones and nervous system.
TB is a serious condition, but it can be cured if it’s treated with the right antibiotics.
Symptoms of TB
Typical symptoms of TB include:
- a persistent coughthat lasts more than three weeks and usually brings up phlegm, which may be bloody
- weight loss
- night sweats
- high temperature (fever)
- tiredness and fatigue
- loss of appetite
- swellings in the neck
You should see a GP if you have a cough that lasts more than three weeks or you cough up blood.
