Nia Griffith, MP for Llanelli and Shadow Defence Secretary, welcomed apprentices from some of Britain’s leading aerospace, defence, security and space companies in Parliament recently.

This event was organised by ADS, the trade organisation that represents the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors, to celebrate the 12,000 apprenticeships that companies in these sectors provide.

Nia Griffith MP said, “It was a pleasure to welcome so many enthusiastic apprentices to the House of Commons and celebrate the valuable contribution they make to our manufacturing industries.

“We heard from many talented young people working towards highly-skilled, rewarding careers. The UK Government must come forward with a proper industrial strategy to ensure that we can use their skills to the full.”

ADS Chief Executive Paul Everitt said, “The UK’s aerospace, defence, security and space industries contribute £30 billion in value added to our economy and apprentices play a key role in businesses, large and small.

“This Parliamentary reception is a great opportunity to celebrate their contribution and allow MPs to hear directly about the exciting career opportunities that exist across our industries. A modern apprenticeship is the route to a high value and long-term career.”
