Glamorgan Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of Mitch Marsh as our second overseas player for the Vitality Blast.
Marsh will be available following his involvement in the Australia A tour and will join up with the team shortly after the start of the tournament.
The Australian all-rounder has made 95 appearances for his country, which includes 11 IT20 matches.
The 27-year-old also has a wealth of experience in domestic T20 cricket having played in the Big Bash for Perth Scorchers and in the IPL.
He has made seven T20 half-centuries in his career at an average over 30, with a strike rate above 120 and has taken 43 wickets at an average of 27.48 with a career-best of 4 for 6.
His time with Glamorgan will see him reunited with his brother, Shaun Marsh who is Glamorganâs other overseas signing for this yearâs Vitality Blast.
âIâm very excited to get the opportunity to join Glamorgan,â said Marsh. âIâve heard good things about the Club and city and I am always looking to improve and challenge myself as a cricketer, so to play in the Vitality Blast will be a really good experience.
âShaun has obviously told me a lot about the club, and how friendly all the staff, players, coaches are so Iâm really looking forward to get started.
âThereâs a lot of talent at the club and theyâve done well over the last few years in the competition so weâll definitely be looking to reach the knockout stages again and hopefully claim some silverware.â
Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: âItâs great to sign Mitch Marsh up for the Vitality Blast. Weâve been looking to get hold of him for a while as we believe he is the ideal player to improve our team.
âHe comes with a huge reputation in T20 cricket, with plenty of international experience and has also played in the IPL and the Big Bash so he knows how to play T20 cricket on the big stage.
âWe were looking for a dual threat player, someone who can bowl with good pace and can bat in different positions in the order. Heâs a very powerful striker of the ball and can either bat high up or lower down and give us some impetus in those middle overs as well so weâre delighted to have him on board.â
