Leading UK holiday park operator, Haven, has launched its brand-new RNLI boats that are mini replicas of the charity’s Severn Class All-Weather Lifeboats to support a fun activity at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park in Pwllheli – one of Haven’s five newly developed parks. The RNLI is Haven’s official charity partner for 2019 and they’ll be working together over a three-year period to create a ‘safe haven’ for all families enjoying a coastal holiday.

These replica boats, painted in their eye-catching orange and blue, are modelled on the Severn – the largest lifeboat in the RNLI fleet – and are able to take on the most challenging sea conditions. These boats will be used in a fun activity that’s new to Hafan y Môr this summer, which will give families the chance to become mini skippers during their holiday. The Boat Adventure activity is perfect for younger guests, as it gives children the opportunity to understand and learn the RNLI’s water safety messaging whilst having fun on a scavenger hunt!

The activity will see guests using a map and the help of their trusty crew to roam unchartered waters whilst navigating their way across the lake to find clues and to complete a fun challenge. Once they complete the challenge and arrive at the ‘port’, kids will have the opportunity to dress up as a RNLI crew member and take memorable holiday photos – they might even get to meet Stormy Stan, the RNLI’s friendly representative for water safety!

In 2018, Haven raised over £122,000 for the charity and this year it’s continuing to run fun and engaging charity fundraisers to raise awareness and vital funds to support their life saving work. The partnership between The RNLI and Haven is an exciting opportunity to talk with thousands of families enjoying coastal holidays about safety around water.

Simon Palmer, Head of Activities and Leisure, said “We are proud to launch our new blue and orange RNLI replica boats, which will see families at the helm, steering their way across our lake at Hafan y Môr. The creation of a second activity in partnership with the RNLI demonstrates how our partnership goes beyond just fundraising. I’m confident that the new Boat Adventure activity will be a great way to educate families about the importance of water safety in a fun, interactive and engaging way.

Haven’s Boat Adventure activity, which will run all season, will cost £10 and give you and your little ones the opportunity to become a mini skipper during your holiday. The boats were designed and produced by Miniport World, a company based in the Netherlands who designed boats for Haven’s Primrose Valley Holiday Park last year. They are brand-new designs specifically made for Haven.

If Haven guests want to learn more about water safety, they can check out the RNLI Water Smart activity. It’s fun, family-focused and led by one of Haven’s friendly park rangers across all parks. Families can explore the coast and find out more about the RNLI, whilst learning how to keep safe beside the seaside. The session covers RNLI safety advice, a guided trail, mini games, plus an opportunity to get to know the coastal landscape. From this activity families can learn how to have fun in and around the sea.
