Russian steps lead the way in Day of Dance
The Karelians are coming to the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Saturday 13 July for International Day of Dance.
Dancers and musicians from this north-eastern Russia territory with Finnish roots are always a popular and colourful attraction on this special day and this year will be joined by special guests Belly Fusion, a tribal dance collective from Worcestershire.
Other troupes heading to the Garden are Dawnswyr Talog, Cwmni Dawns Werin Caerdydd, Dawnswyr Pen-y-Bont, Parti Dawns Aelwyd Aberystwyth, Dawnswyr Tipyn o Bopeth, Pembroke dancers and Garth Country dancers.
Day of Dance organiser Bobbie Evans said: “It is fantastic news that Skylark and Artforge, from Karelia, are joining us again this year.”
She added: “There will be scores of dancers performing all different styles in different venues around the Garden – it is going to be a lovely and very colourful occasion.”
The day will start with the Grand Parade up the Broadwalk followed by a mass dance in Millennium Square.
Diwrnod Dawns Rhyngwladol
Mae’r Karelians yn dod i Ardd Fotaneg Genedlaethol Cymru ar ddydd Sadwrn 13 ar gyfer Diwrnod Dawns Rhyngwladol.
Mae dawnswyr a cherddorion o’r diriogaeth hon o ogledd-ddwyrain Rwsia â gwreiddiau Ffindir wastad yn atyniad poblogaidd a lliwgar ar y diwrnod arbennig hwn, ac eleni bydd y gwesteion arbennig Belly Fusion, cyd-bwyllgor dawns o Sir Gaerwrangon.
Rhai eraill sy’n arwain i’r Ardd yw Dawnswyr Talog, Cwmni Dawns Werin Caerdydd, Pen-y-Bont, Parti Dawns Aelwyd Aberystwyth, Dawnswyr Tipyn o Bopeth, dawnswyr Penfro a dawnswyr Garth Country.
Dywedodd Bobbie Evans, trefnydd Diwrnod y Ddawns: “Mae’n newyddion gwych bod Skylark ac Artforge, o Karelia, yn ymuno â ni eto eleni.”
Ychwanegodd: “Bydd nifer o ddawnswyr yn perfformio pob arddull wahanol mewn gwahanol leoliadau o amgylch yr Ardd – bydd yn achlysur hyfryd a lliwgar iawn.”
Bydd y diwrnod yn dechrau gyda’r Grand Parade i fyny’r Broadwalk ac yna dawns dorfol yn Sgwâr y Mileniwm.
