Mrs Shirley Au-Yeung, founder and Chair, Chinese In Wales Association (CIWA) , said :
“CIWA is a community-led, grassroots charity. We are extremely grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for funding our Stand Up For You project. The grant will enable us to provide much needed support to our vulnerable community members to help them break language barriers and address culture differences when accessing local services. ”
Five other Swansea based organisations are also celebrating the news of their grants including Penllergaer Environmental Team wanted £9,000 to buy a vehicle to allow people with disabilities and less mobile individuals to enjoy the local wildlife and greenery. Sally Hymen, Committee member said
“I am delighted and very grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for the grant which has enabled us to replace our ageing vehicle. The old gator has been in service for nearly 10 years and has been a real help to the volunteers who have worked so hard to manage the Llys Nini Site of Interest for Nature Conservation (SINC). Once again, the site has been awarded a Green Flag which is testament to the work of the volunteers. The grant is invaluable to us and our work.”
