Swansea’s Liberty Stadium will host the first–ever Byte Night in the city, the UK’s largest sponsored sleep out supporting Action for Children’s work to ensure all children have a safe and loving home.

Byte Night Swansea launched at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday 17th July where Swansea and South West Wales businesses were invited to sleep out and join over 1,500 other sleepers nationwide to raise much-needed funds for Action for Children across the UK on Friday 4th October 2019.

Byte Night is the UK’s largest corporate sleepout, with individuals and teams sleeping rough to raise vital funds to prevent youth homelessness. This year’s sleepout takes place on Friday 4th October with Swansea included for the first time among the Byte Night venues.

Byte Night Board member, managing director of Philtronics and organiser of the Swansea event, Simon Pritchard said: “Byte Night has already helped Welsh Action for Children projects do amazing work that help young people with homelessness issues and develop life skills to help that difficult transition from child to adult. We will be partnering with Ospreys in the Community to build Action for Children’s Blues mental health programme into their work and support this event.  I’m delighted we now have a Swansea Byte Night to raise awareness and help our projects here in Wales.

He added: “Action for Children runs vital services that equip young people with basic skills from budgeting to housekeeping, ensuring they have a safe and loving place to call home. Byte Night is just one night sleeping under the stars that can make a lifetime’s difference to the many young people who find themselves on the street or sofa-surfing, unsure of what the future holds. All young people deserve a safe and loving place to call home, I hope as many businesses as possible join us on the first Swansea Byte Night to help make it happen.”

Brigitte Gater, director of children’s services for Action for Children in Wales said: “We’re proud that Swansea now has its own Byte Night event as we have a great presence in Swansea, running a range of critical services and projects. I hope our long and proud history here persuades as many businesses as possible to sleep out and help the most disadvantaged children, young people and their families.”
