Age Cymru’s cARTrefu Cube will be in the courtyard at Oriel y Parc in St Davids from 19 July to 22 August.

Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre in St Davids is to host an unusual art installation as part of cARTrefu, Age Cymru’s flagship arts in care homes project.

The cARTrefu Cube, a freestanding transparent exhibition space, will feature a residency by Pembrokeshire artist Lizzy Stonhold in the courtyard from 19 July to 22 August 2019.

Oriel y Parc Manager, Claire Bates said: “We are delighted to be able to host the cARTrefu Cube for the first time and welcome Lizzy back to Oriel y Parc as she continues to engage with the community to produce more brilliant work.

“The cube will provide another exhibition to the list of those on already on display here, ranging from work by local artists to art and artefacts from the collections of Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales.”

Lizzy Stonhold is well-known locally for work including the award-winning community arts project Coast Lines, which saw her take on the role of Artist in Residence at Oriel y Parc in 2017.

She is currently creating a drawn map of Wales through the project Drawn Together and will use this to begin her residency as a cARTrefu artist, encouraging all to make their mark on Wales.

cARTrefu artists have delivered 1,840 free workshops within their care home residencies so far in Wales.

One aim of the project has been to use exhibitions to raise public awareness of creative life in care homes, through the art work that has been created with and inspired by the people living in, working in and visiting care homes.

The project has had a significant impact on the well-being of the care home residents, and has improved the attitudes of staff and artists to residents and what they can achieve.

This has led to residents socialising more, residents regaining motor skills and staff being more likely to seek out cultural experiences.

Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre is owned and run by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and is the home of Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales in Pembrokeshire.

Ciwb cARTrefu yn galw heibio i Oriel y Parc fel rhan o daith genedlaethol

Bydd Oriel a Chanolfan Ymwelwyr Oriel y Parc yn Nhyddewi yn cynnal arddangosfa gelf anghyffredin fel rhan o cARTrefu, sef prosiect celfyddydau mewn cartrefi gofal Age Cymru.

Bydd y Ciwb cARTrefu, sef gofod arddangos tryloyw sy’n sefyll ar ei draed ei hun, yn treulio cyfnod preswyl ar y cwrt o 19 Gorffennaf i 22 Awst 2019, a bydd yn cynnwys gwaith gan yr artist Lizzy Stonhold o Sir Benfro.

Dywedodd Rheolwr Oriel y Parc, Claire Bates: “Rydyn ni’n falch iawn o allu croesawu’r Ciwb cARTrefu yma am y tro cyntaf a chroesawu Lizzy yn ôl i Oriel y Parc wrth iddi barhau i ymgysylltu â’r gymuned i greu rhagor o waith gwych.

“Bydd y ciwb yn arddangosfa gyffrous arall i’w hychwanegu at y rhestr o’r rheini sydd eisoes yn cael eu harddangos yma, sy’n amrywio o waith gan artistiaid lleol i arteffactau o gasgliadau Amgueddfa Cymru.

Mae Lizzy Stonhold yn adnabyddus yn lleol am ei gwaith, gan gynnwys Amlinell yr Arfordir – y prosiect celfyddydau cymunedol sydd wedi ennill gwobrau – lle bu’n Artist Preswyl yn Oriel y Parc yn 2017.

Ar hyn o bryd, mae’n tynnu llun map o Gymru fel rhan o’r prosiect Creu ar y Cyd a bydd yn defnyddio hwn i ddechrau ei chyfnod preswyl fel artist cARTrefu, gan annog pawb i adael eu hôl ar Gymru.

Hyd yn hyn, mae artistiaid cARTrefu wedi cynnal 1,840 o weithdai am ddim fel rhan o’u cyfnodau preswyl mewn cartrefi gofal yng Nghymru.

Un o amcanion y prosiect yw defnyddio arddangosfeydd i godi ymwybyddiaeth y cyhoedd o fywyd creadigol mewn cartrefi gofal, drwy’r gwaith celf sydd wedi’i ysbrydoli gan y bobl sy’n byw mewn cartrefi gofal, yn gweithio ynddynt ac yn ymweld â nhw, ac sydd wedi cael ei greu gyda nhw.

Mae’r prosiect wedi cael effaith sylweddol ar les y preswylwyr yn y cartrefi gofal, ac wedi gwella agwedd y staff a’r artistiaid ynghylch preswylwyr a beth maen nhw’n gallu ei gyflawni.

Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Arfordir Penfro sy’n berchen ar Oriel a Chanolfan Ymwelwyr Oriel y Parc, ac yn eu rheoli, a dyma gartref Amgueddfa Cymru yn Sir Benfro.

Mae hyn wedi arwain at breswylwyr yn cymdeithasu mwy ac yn adennill sgiliau symud, ac at staff yn bod yn fwy tebygol o chwilio am brofiadau diwylliannol.
