• Service holds party at Barry base
• Staff and families celebrate together with hog roast, face-painting and party games
Action for Children’s Vale Short Breaks has celebrated Action for Children’s 150th birthday with a garden party for families and staff at their Ty Robin base in Barry.
The service, which provides respite care and support for children and young people who have learning or physical disabilities and their families, celebrated in style with Ollies hog roast, face painting, balloon-modelling and many other games as staff and families came together to celebrate the landmark birthday.
Members of the Barry Floral Society, local fundraiser, Toni Marley and other members of the community also joined the fun as Action for Children’s operational director in South Wales cut the special birthday cake for everyone to enjoy.
Registered manager of Vale Short Breaks, Laura Mason, said: ‘It was wonderful to see the families we support have such a great time with staff and supporters. We occupy a key place in the community that provides a break for children and their families. To bring everybody together for a party was a great way to celebrate Action for Children’s 150th birthday and say thanks to families, staff, supporters and everyone who makes Ty Robin so special.’
Toni Marley, who raises money for Ty Robin, added: ‘It was great to be invited to the party and when you see how the money is spent and the joy it brings, you just want to raise more. The staff provide a wonderful service here and the children are so happy.’
