There’s still time to sign up for Bowel Cancer UK’s Walk Together this September to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.
Netflix’s Sex Education star and patron of Bowel Cancer UK Connor Swindells, whose own family has been affected by the disease, is encouraging readers to host their own Walk Together to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK and help fund the charity’s vital services and lifesaving work in Wales.
Their sponsored walk could be a special route in their local area taking place in September. It’s a perfect opportunity to bring people affected by bowel cancer together to show support for those undergoing treatment, remember loved ones and raise funds to help stop people dying from the disease.
Alternatively, people can take part in a sponsored virtual walk where they can complete five miles in their own time, anytime, during the month of September.
Connor Swindells says: “Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in Wales, but with your help we can change that. By hosting your own Walk Together you can support those going through treatment and everyone whose lives have been affected by the disease.”
Lowri Griffiths, Head of Bowel Cancer UK in Wales, said: “Organising your own walk is an opportunity to show support and solidarity with people who have been affected by this terrible disease. By bringing the bowel cancer community together in this way, it shows our determination stop people dying from the disease. It also gives us a time of reflection to remember those who have sadly passed away from bowel cancer. Please do join us, your contribution is invaluable to us!”
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in Wales. More than 2,200 people are diagnosed with the disease every year in the country.
