Following a sell out show at London’s The Lexington this week and a stellar performance at Cambridge Folk Festival, The Rails (Kami Thompson and James Walbourne) today release their stunning new track ‘Save The Planet’, taken from their acclaimed album ‘Cancel The Sun’ out 16th August on Thirty Tigers. The duo will also embark on a 9 date UK headline tour this October.

With effortless harmonies and a sweet electric guitar riff, the beauty of ‘Save The Planet’ contrasts interestingly with the jarring and environmentally-inspired lyrics: “save the planet, kill yourself.”
Written by the Rails and produced by Stephen Street, best known for his work with The Smiths and Blur, ‘Cancel The Sun’ marks a welcome return for these fine purveyors of 21st century folk and it’s the first new music since the 2017 release of their ‘Other People’ album.
The Rails will head out on a UK headline tour in October. Dates below:

SAVE THE PLANET
(Walbourne/Thompson)
Do what we want just this one time
You’ve had your way your whole sorry life
This is the moment to end all your strife
To please your friends and your enemies
Load the chamber
Get down on your knees
Save the planet, kill yourself
You know what you have to do
Save the planet, kill yourself
It’s the least that you could do
The least that you could do
This is your chance to be a good guy
Nobody likes you, and you know why
You’re all talk, your head’s in the sky
We’re all facing catastrophe
Load the chamber
Get down on your knees
Save the planet, kill yourself
You know what you have to do
Save the planet, kill yourself
It’s the least that you could do
Do the right thing be a good pal
Kill the light on your way out
Kiss the children and make your way down
To the edge of the atmosphere
Say goodbye as the world disappears
Save the planet, kill yourself
You know what you have to do
Save the planet, kill yourself
It’s the least that you could do
