Press statement – Murder charge re death of Mark Bloomfield

Detectives investigating the death of 54-year-old Mark Bloomfield who died following an assault in High Street, Swansea on July 18 have today charged a man with murder.

Colin Thomas Payne, aged 61, from Swansea had previously been charged with causing grievous bodily harm but is now charged with Mr Bloomfield’s murder and has been further remanded into custody.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Darren George, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Mr Bloomfield sadly died from his injuries a few days after the assault.

“I know there were a number of people in the High Street area and inside the Full Moon public house at about 3.10pm on July 18 when the assault took place – some of whom have yet to contact us.

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the High Street area to make contact with the incident room, you may not have believed you saw anything but we do still need to speak to you. I am also interested in anyone who may have any dash cam footage of High Street on the 18th July to please come forward.”
