Ahead of next weekâs recall of the Welsh Assembly, Labourâs Joyce Watson attacked fellow Mid and West Wales member Neil Hamilton over his support for the prime ministerâs decison to suspend Parliament.
Mrs Watson said:
âNeil Hamilton has issued a statement saying he strongly welcomes Boris Johnsonâs âbrave and welcomeâ plans to suspend Parliament.
âHe may recall the furore the last time this extraordinary procedure was used. In 1997 John Major was accused of proroguing parliament in order to suppress scrutiny of an embarrassing “cash for questions” report.
âOnce again it appears that he and his former party have chosen political expediency over the normal practise of public life.
âPerhaps, since he admires Johnsonâs antidemocratic actions so much, while his current party languishes, he should consider re-joining the Tories, if theyâll have him back.â
