Police Statement – Update to assault in Neath, victim named

A 58-year-old man who died as a result of his injuries following an assault in Neath has been named as Mark Winchcombe.

The incident happened at about 12.55am on September 1 in Main Road, Neath Abbey, Skewen.

Six local male youths, two aged 14 and four aged 16, have been arrested and remain in police custody.

South Wales Police continue to appeal for information and we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who was driving down Main Road Skewen between midnight and 1.30am who may have dash cam footage.

The investigation is very much ongoing and we would like to remind people of the importance of not speculating on the circumstances or naming of people they believe may be involved.
