Police are appealing for information following an unexplained death of a 50 year-old man from the Cwmbran area.
His body was discovered by a member of the public at approximately midday on Sunday (8 September, 2019) as they walked along a piece of land within Taff Fechan Nature Reserve.
Officers investigating the circumstances surrounding his death are appealing to motorists who would have been driving along the A465 Head of the Valleys road between Cefn Coed and Dowlais Top, in the early hours of Sunday (8 Sept), between midnight and 2am.
They are urged to check any available dashcam footage, as officers would like to speak to anybody who has captured, or who saw for themselves, a man walking along that road towards Dowlais in the early hours.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers are waiting for results of a Home Office Post Mortem to determine what caused his death.
The man’s next of kin has been informed and the family is being supported.
Anybody who has information is urged to contact South Wales Police via 101 quoting reference *331644 or they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A 37 year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil is currently in police custody assisting police with enquiries.
