Tickets are now available for the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot’s Armed Forces Festival Concert on Friday 1 November. The concert will be one of the highlights of this year’s Festival, which is being supported by The Wave, Swansea Sound and the Aberafan Shopping Centre.

Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Councillor Scott Jones said:

“The concert is going to be a really special evening at which we can thank those who have served their country. We will be honouring the contribution of the Armed Forces and civilians in Neath Port Talbot during the two World Wars.

“We’d love as many people as possible to come along and support the event to pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave so much during those conflicts.”

Headlining on the evening will be Neath singer Kirsten Orsborn, who is well known for her charity work, especially for causes linked to the military. Such is Kirsten’s commitment that The Swansea Royal Marines have officially adopted her as their own ‘forces sweetheart’. Kirsten will perform a number of popular vintage songs and lead the audience in community singing of First World War classics.

Also on the programme will be the 215 Squadron Air Training Corps Band and the City of Swansea Pipe Band, Cymric Choir, NPT County Youth Choir and NPT County Youth Brass Band, all under the expert watch of well-known local celebrity and father of Hollywood star Michael Sheen, Meyrick Sheen, who will act as master of ceremonies. The evening will end with the last post and thousands of falling poppies, the official emblem of remembrance.

Tickets for the concert cost £11 each or £9 for children and £9 each for parties of eight or more and can be purchased from the Princess Royal Theatre or online at www.npttheatres.co.uk/princessroyal.

More information about the Concert and Festival can be found on the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot’s website www.npt.gov.uk/aff.
