5 Ways to Uncover the Haunted History in South and Mid Wales this Halloween

Wales’s haunted history will emerge from the shadows this October, as Cadw offers a collection of hair-raising events to entertain (and spook!) the whole family.

From folklore with an added fright at Blaenavon Ironworks to gruesome encounters with creepy creatures at Strata Florida Abbey, here are five spine-tingling events to plunge visitors deep into South Wales’s paranormal past this Halloween.

  1. Visit an empty, nineteenth century Ironworks after-dark

As night falls, adults can gather at Blaenavon Ironworks and embark on a journey through the site’s silent grounds — which were once filled with the sounds of industrial Wales.

Visitors will join a ghost tour of the site and its cottages, learning of the spine-tingling legends and frightening folklore of the local area.

But it’s not all chills and thrills — a hot drink and Welsh cake will be also offered after the tour.
